Accepts #hex (3/4/6/8 digits), rgb()/hsl() in comma or CSS Color 4 space-separated syntax (slash alpha, %, deg/grad/rad/turn), hwb(), cmyk(), and named CSS colors. Channels outside CSS ranges (like rgb(300, 0, 0)) are refused rather than clamped. color() spaces beyond sRGB are named in the refusal, not guessed. The fg/bg pair rides the URL (nothing else) so a checked pair can be shared.
